Midtown Dallas Inc has addressed the chronic issue of homelessness with the launch of the Resilience initiative in collaboration with The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center in 2020. Additionally since its founding in 1993, Midtown has addressed homelessness with dedicated Public Safety initiative that now invests $500,000-plus annually in private security patrols with Midtown Blues. Additionally, since 2022, The Bridge has each week sent expert counselors to Midtown to connect with individuals struggling to work to enlist them in programs to heal and return to living in housing.
The unified Resilience and Public Safety initiative is now building with an expanded team up that now involves Midtown Dallas Inc., The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center, Dallas Police Department, Midtown Blues, City of Dallas as well as security teams of property owners across Midtown. An energized and focused team went into the field the week of May 12 to address current priority areas where encampments have grown in the District. Spending dedicated and consistent time in the field is essential to resolving this chronic challenge for our community. These walks will be an ongoing strategy to study areas of need and to implement effective outreach with the individuals experiencing homelessness with a goal of getting struggling individuals enlisted in recovery programs for healing and economic stability to remain in housing long term.
